In the meantime, here's a wee bit about me......
Hi, I’m Jill, Life Coach, Artist, Writer and Creative.
I work out of, what I call, my Creative Studio at home, a bright room full of all my creative tools – paints, inks, brushes, mixed media and varied mark making tools, alongside my PC, loads of books and lots of paper for writing. ‘Creative’ and not ‘Art’ Studio, because it is from here that I create as a Writer, Artist and Life Coach – all three, requiring different forms of creativity, that somehow are beginning to merge together.
That ‘merging’ is now showing up in my art. I’m drawn to exploring our intuitive connection; bringing out of the inner mind, images, feelings and whatever is already inside us, inviting it to reveal itself on paper or canvas. My art tends more to the abstract or semi-impressionistic, touching on the real world, but ending somewhere else. Working often in watercolours and inks, I love to see where the image starts, and discover what choices come up as the mark making reveals a known or unknown image. Seeing where my intuitive self takes the image can be both frustrating and liberating.
If I were to summarise my art I’d say, I create abstract combinations and otherworldly landscapes inspired by outer Scottish nature and our inner world.
My passion as a Life Coach is to help people connect with, create and live their purpose. Teaching my clients to connect with their own intuition features predominantly in this work. Bringing my Art and Life Coaching together, I am exploring how the process of creating art intuitively helps us to know our inner depths, maybe heal our ‘stuff’. I am especially interested in helping other artists explore their inner world (thoughts and emotions), and how it affects their creative, personal and business lives as an artist.
In my abstract work especially, I invite the viewer into reflection, self-awareness, asking them the question, “What do YOU see?”, “What comes up for you as you look deeper into the image?” and invite them to use the image to explore their current emotions. I am fascinated and intrigued about how emotions can be conveyed and stimulated through colour, shapes, and textures – and how combining images and words can be a catalyst for shifting and loosening stuck emotions. Using art to stimulate us to know our inner depths, heal our ‘stuff’ and have the courage to share our unique gifts to the world – might just be my current mission in life!
